This story has more layers than an onion and as the writer peels them off we are suprised, a bit baffled, and somewhat astounded as to how this plays out. It grabbed me by the heart and the throat, and I couldn't put it down. This ancestor lived through the 1798 Rebellion, and his father Miles Murphy was imprisoned in Dublin from 1800 to 1806. Harry, on the other hand, is elated to escape his two tedious roles of husband and father. The highlight of the story are these school days, with the naive Adam often embarrassing Tor with eager attentiveness. It is like peace and harmony, which they apply to Oreo's two colors of black and white. It is a story of love but it also deals with the complexities that resulted from European colonization/ missionization of Africa. The book, in short, is all about how *everything that one looks at and most of all the inner "I" that is always lurking somewhere in the mysterious depths of our souls looking outward through our "eyes is nothing but God looking in. Someone is in the nighttime shadows, watching the local teens play around in the moonlit woods. She forced her way through the brushes and back to the sidewalk, wiping off cobwebs and the like from her clothes.
